I have to say that I'm eating more fruit then I've eaten in 5 years. As a low carber I just don't eat this much fruit - ever. BUT I love it. I love the fruit. I thought I'd miss dairy with no milk or cheese, but it's been okay with rice milk as a treat alternative. Cheese - well I've been okay. And I've had next to no cravings. I'm eating a ton of fruit though and I'm a bit worried it's too much. An average day for me is:
2 nectarines
1 apple
1/2 orange
1 something else like plum or peach or 5 strawberries
I'm also eating a lot of veggies, but I always eat a lot of those. Every day consists of:
1-2 large romaine salad(s)
kale
squash or zucchini or cucumber
broccoli
beet
beet leaf
carrots
I'm also eating one meal with a grain which also doesn't happen very often unless I'm cheating. Brown rice. Soba noodles. Whole wheat bread. I'm trying to keep each of these items to 1x a day, but I'm probably having 2 servings of it at a meal and it's usually dinner.
I don't think I'm getting enough water. And I can't seem to remember to take my Livertone! I suck! I'm also really spacey. I think the lack of protein is getting to me. I've increased the number of nuts I have, but I'm trying to keep my eggs and chicken down. Next week I'm going to make fish. I have some frozen scallops, white fish, and shrimp in the freezer with my name on it. :) Nils won't eat fish so I haven't been making it. But next week I am trying some fish recipes.
BK: juiced the usual stuff but with a base of green tea. Yum! Beet leaf, carrot, kale, celery, almonds, watermelon, strawberry, stevia, honey
lunch: I went to Hows to get apples and bought a small thing of brown rice sushi rolls. Mmm. God I LOVE sushi! Brown rice, nori, sesame seeds, avocado, cucumber, watercress, and steamed shrimp. It was heaven.
Dinner: Big salad, soba noodles and chicken. The chicken was marinated in Italian dressing overnight. Always a great marinade!

Hey, thought I'd check this out. (It's Jen.)
ReplyDeleteI think this cleanse sounds really interesting. I'd start something like this if I wasn't about to leave the country for a land where I will be lucky to find food that fits my dietary needs to begin with.
Just wanted to say - a) I'm not sure if there's such a thing as too much fruit. Fruit lends so much fiber to our diets and water while giving us vitamins. As to being high caloric, I don't know, but I do know that the sugar in fruit interacts very differently in our body than any other kind of fruit.
Also - there's a big difference among carbs, but it sounds like you know that already.
As to Nils, it may be the soy or (if he's drastically changed his diet from last week), he might also be naturally eliminating stuff. The whole first year I was a vegan, I farted like whoa. Soy milk isn't the best dairy alternative for a lot of people, though. Blue Diamond's Almond Milk is quite good and works in baked goods, and many people like rice milk, though I like something a little thicker.
Cheese is actually addictive, btw. There are opiates concentrated in cheese which are in the milk to encourage calves to feed. I found this fun fact out while transitioning to vegan. It took about 6 months before I stopped craving cheese.
Thanks for stopping by! I'm blogging the entire cleanse so feel free to stop by. I'll post it weekly on Fb as well. You should be okay in Korea. They love the veggies. Thanks for the tip about Nils. I felt that might be the culprit.
